The current battery supply chain lacks traceability, sustainability, and circularity, impacting the competitiveness of EU automotive and battery manufacturers. The BASE project aims to develop a digital battery passport (DBP) to address these issues. DBP will ensure transparent, secure, and cost-efficient platform operation, promoting circular businesses. It will calculate battery performance indicators and ensure traceability down to the Critical Raw Materials (CRM) level.
Using distributed ledger technology, DBP will verify data authenticity, prevent duplication and manipulation, and ensure privacy. DBP will provide accurate battery data, enabling increased service life and efficient recycling, reducing waste and EU dependency on CRM from third countries. Four pilot use cases will demonstrate DBP's applicability. NAVTEK will lead merine pilot in project.
